The NIJALI Project is a transformative initiative by Okoa New Generation, funded by the Malala Fund, aimed at dismantling socio-economic and disability-related barriers that prevent girls from accessing quality education in Monduli District, Tanzania.
The project creates safe and inclusive spaces where adolescent girls can openly discuss critical issues such as early marriage, teenage pregnancy, menstruation, and gender-based discrimination.
NIJALI also conducts teacher training sessions on inclusive and gender-responsive teaching practices, ensuring educators can effectively support vulnerable learners, including girls with disabilities.
Through re-entry campaigns and community dialogues, the project reduces early pregnancy and child marriage while advocating for increased budget allocations for menstrual health and hygiene facilities.
Reached over 6,441 adolescent girls with leadership, SRHR education, and life skills training.
Supported 84 girls to re-enroll in school, including pregnant and parenting teens.
Rescued 285 girls from forced marriage, enabling them to continue education.
Distributed 2,350 sanitary pads to improve menstruation safety and school attendance.
Provided 346 vulnerable girls with uniforms, stationery, shoes, and learning materials.
Strengthened teacher capacity in inclusive and gender-responsive pedagogy.
Join hands with ONG and the Malala Fund to ensure girls in Monduli have equal opportunities to learn, thrive, and lead.
