Youth Empowerment & Development Initiative (YEDI)

Empowering youth to build sustainable livelihoods through entrepreneurship and economic development.

Economic Empowerment for Vulnerable Youth

The Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI) is a flagship project implemented by Okoa New Generation, funded by FCS Tanzania. It aims to empower young people to build sustainable livelihoods through entrepreneurship, business development, and market access. The project targets vulnerable youth, equipping them with skills, resources, and networks needed to thrive economically.

YEDI provides intensive training in financial literacy, business planning, and enterprise management, while facilitating access to startup capital, market linkages, and mentorship opportunities. A key component is advocacy for an enabling environment, engaging Local Government Authorities (LGAs) to reduce policy and structural barriers—such as restrictive licensing, limited financing, and lack of youth representation in decision-making spaces.
